    Hello, my name is Xavier Mascareñas. I’m a staff photojournalist at The Daily Times in Farmington, N.M., where I started as an intern in Aug., 2008. I graduated from the University of New Mexico in May 2008 with a Bachelor of University Studies, photojournalism focus.

    I worked at the New Mexico Daily Lobo, UNM’s independent student paper, from 2004 to 2008. There I worked as a photographer and photo editor, then finished in the role of multimedia editor. One of the highlights was helping to guide the creation of the new multimedia department during my last semester.

    I was also fortunate enough to be the photo intern at the Austin (Texas) American-Statesman during the summer of 2008. After the internship,  I attended a week-long multimedia training course in Nashville through the Chips Quinn Scholar’s program.

    I’m a Chips Quinn Scholar and a member of the National Press Photographers Association.
